Since
July 2000, D/C Export has taken several steps forward in pursuit
of ISO certification. Dave Schelstreet has joined the company as
ISO administrator. “Overall, we’re doing very well,” he says. “We’ve
set realistic goals and are meeting our target dates on schedule.”
Completed are the documentation of procedures
and detailed job descriptions for each position. While the people
of D/C Export know their responsibilities well, written procedures
“remove uncertainty from their jobs,” explains Dave. “ISO-compliant
documentation clearly states procedures and courses of action in
different situations. It empowers people to solve challenges independently.”
Currently underway is the establishment of an
inter-nal audit system. Dave has enlisted the help of six people
from across the company, who are training to be internal auditors.

For
the sake of impartiality, each will be qualified to audit every
area of the company except his or her own. Training was completed
at the end of April, at which time D/C Export conducted its first
in a series of internal audits to measure their progress and identify
areas to improve.
“This is the year,” asserts Dave. “By the end
of the summer, we will have completed our certification audit.”

Dave
Schelstreet
IT/ISO Administrator
Dave joined
the D/C Export team in July 2000. In this newly created
position, he has dual responsibilities: as information technology
administrator and ISO administrator. On the IT end, Dave will
increase service levels by maintaining and improving D/C’s technology.
Concerning ISO preparations, his prior experience with quality
systems will help usher D/C Export into ISO certification.

Jim
Meden
Outside Sales
Jim came aboard
in November 2000 to replace Bob Baylor (who was promoted to director)
in the Sales Department. It didn’t take long for him to settle
in and get to know his colleagues; Kevin Kenney and Jim worked
together at the same import/packing company before joining D/C
Export’s Sales team. Jim is responsible for customers in Illinois.

Rob
Fagan
Outside Sales
Rob serves
a territory base of freight forwarders. He has 24 years of experi-ence
in the transportation and freight-forwarding industries, where
he is well-known and liked for his knowledge and high service
levels. Thanks to his background, Rob was able to hit the ground
running since day one.

Bob Baylor
Director of Sales & Marketing
Bob has been
with D/C Export since April 1999. He started as an outside salesperson
serving customers in the Chicago area. After showing great dedication
to the company and to customers, as well as organizational and
management skills, Bob was promoted to director. He is responsible
for the Sales Department and various marketing functions.

Kevin
Kenney
Outside Sales
Kevin, who
joined D/C Export in October 2000, was added to the Sales team
to serve a newer market-place. With the company serving more customers
based in Wisconsin, Kevin — a resident of the Dairy State—is the
perfect person to serve their needs. He also offers extensive
experience in the import/packing industry.
